Welcome to the website of China Evangelical Seminary! In 1970, already 39 years ago, a group of Chinese and Western mission and church leaders responded to God’s vision by setting up China evangelical Seminary (CES) Under the guidance of its Presidents and with the support of the churches, CES has now produced over 1500 Christian workers to faithfully serve the Lord all over the world as pastors, missionaries and teachers.
Our beloved founding president, Rev. James Hudson Taylor III passed away on 20May 2009, aged 80. All the teachers, fellow students and alumni of China Evangelical Seminary express our deepest mourning at this loss. During his 10-years leadership (1970-1980) in CES, Rev. James Taylor had laid down three principles of education –- vital spirituality, genuine scholarship and effective service of God, which marked a brand-new, vivid and proper direction for theological education. In the future, we will keep following the principles set by CES, Rev. James Taylor in nurturing high-quality students to work in pastoral, missionary, educational and equipping ministries worldwide.
Three years ago, we began the Third Phase of the expanded construction of the campus. Currently, we have hired architects to work on the design of the future campus and are planning to summit the application of construction to the Ministry of Education this year.
While presently mainland China has become the focus of the world, evangelical ministries should pay more attention on the development of churches in the Mainland. . As long as the “Three Direct Links” are established between the two sides of the Strait, we shall grasp this opportunity to be well-prepared to train servants for the great harvest, especially students who come from the Mainland to study theology in Taiwan.
The Kingdom of God needs talents and talents need education. We sincerely invite you to join us in building up a school of God by praying and donating, offering internship opportunity for our students, and encouraging young men with God’s vision to take our entrance examination. Hence, the servants of God would be well-equipped, and the Kingdom of God would be promoted efficiently. |
